About Ghana

Ghana is a safe, English speaking country in West Africa, and is not only Robert’s home country, but also that of the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan.

With a population of  approximately 27 millionGhana is located along the Gulf of Guinea and Atlantic Ocean, in the subregion of West Africa. Spanning a land mass of 238,535 km2, Ghana is bordered by the Ivory Coast in the west, Burkina Faso in the north, Togo in the east and the Gulf of Guinea and Atlantic Ocean in the south. The word Ghana means "Warrior King" in the Mande language.

There are eleven languages spoken, but English is widely used throughout Ghana.  Some of us tried out some ‘Twi’ words and phrases on our 2016 Adventure, which the locals loved - but it’s perfectly acceptable to use only English if you prefer.
